I have been told to expect a very large Women’s field at the DVRSR.  This would be great news to any promoter, even more so for us!  What to do?  Increase the prize list, of course!

Right now the prize list is $250 for Men P/1/2/3…$150 each for Men 4, Men 35+, Men 45+, Men 55/60/65+…and Women (combined).  Flyer says that fields smaller than twelve will be combined.  Small fields are not much fun, so we try to give you somebody to ride with.

BIG fields?  That has never been a “problem” at Death Valley.  So here it goes:  WOMEN’s purse will DOUBLE if there are 15 or more racers.  And the same for any other field.  15 racers, and the purse doubles.

In the race promotion business, many of the expenses are fixed, so the cost of putting on a race does not go up very much for each additional racer.  I would like YOU to get the money back!

I also have some cool swag, including the very cool, much coveted DVRSR shirts!!  FREE DVRSR shirt to AARON L for signing up for DVRSR, Mt Whitney, AND Everest Challenge all at once.  WOW!!
FREE DVRSR shirt to the next person to sign up for the DVRSR after I post this!

Somehow, I did not post these yet…here they are!

death

road

stage

race

Coming to a mountain range or two near you…May 25-26, 2013.

Stage 1: Starts just outside of tiny Big Pine, CA at the intersection of CA168 and Death Valley Road. Go up up up on DV Rd. for 14 miles, then 14 miles down the other side to the end of the pavement. You know how we are…we like to go to the end of the road. Turn around and ride back up to the summit for the Finish. Technically, you are not inside DVNP at this race, but you are surrounded by it. Truly epic last few miles before the Finish. Food and drinks await. Coast back to the cars and call it a day.
8200 feet of vertical gain in 42 miles. Kind of a lot. Probably warm too, so we start early. Feed Zones at the summit and the turn with Hammer products and other good stuff.

Stage 2: Starts at the little park at the South end of Independence, CA. This is 40 miles South of Big Pine. Neutral rollout for a few tenths of a mile to the left turn onto Onion Valley Rd. This is a beast of a climb. 13 miles of nuthin’ but UP. Gain one mile in 13, so there is your average gradient, eh? One Feed about halfway up, and lots of good things at the summit of course.

Then we put the times together from the two days and see who the prizes go to. BIG prize list, BIG climbing, BIG fun!

We missed you…but you know how we are.  We had the race regardless of the turnout, and had a great time.  All of the racers on hand liked the course, the Finish Line was well placed, the loop was not too easy, and there were not too many bananas left at the end of the day.

Extra special thanks to William who came all the way from Las Vegas, Wayne from Bishop, Wes from Rosamond, and the whole gang from Eastside Velo.  If you don’t know it yet, the ESV club has an all-new Women’s Team.  I hear there are 28 of them!!  We have offered a discount to ESV members to try and get the biggest Women’s field ever out to the upcoming Death Valley Road Stage Race May 25-26.  Yes, it looms on the horizon!  We are hoping to see the biggest overall field this year, and are offering incentives!

Got teammates coming?  Incentives.

Driving an extra long way?  We will slip you some gas money.

Like to eat?  We will cook for you.

REALLY!  Tell us what would get you out to the DVRSR, and we will do it.  Nice prize list (but you have to come out…no prizes for tiny fields), breathtaking scenery at every turn, and some pretty intense climbing as well.  Upgrade points for large enough fields.

Drop me a line and tell me you are coming and want an incentive…or tell me why not, and what it would take to get you and YOUR teammates out to Death Valley.

So….Registration is running a little slow for the first *ever* Tuttle Creek Road Race.   I know it is a little strange to have NO HUGE CLIMBS in an AntiGravityCycling event and all that…

and we are too far North to get you any SoCal Cup points (although you *could* petition your SCNCA Board members for that…)

…but Lone Pine is absolutely stunning this week, and the race is rolling terrain – perfect tuneup for Death Valley Road Stage Race May 25-26, and then the SCNCA Champs June 1-2.

Hope to see you out there!

If you were at the Nine Mile Canyon Omnium, SoCal Cup Points have been posted on the SCNCA website.

If you are chasing the SoCal Cup and you were NOT there…WHY NOT?

Tuttle Creek Road Race…     https://www.bikereg.com/Net/17857

April 20, 2013  Loops around the Alabama hills above Lone Pine.

Specific Junior Start Times have been added.  I hear from Juniors and parents that they are interested in ROAD races specifically, and some promoters are cutting Junior Categories.  Not us!  We are adding them, and will have specific Junior Start Times at all AntiGravity cycling races.  We will also have shorter course options for the Men 10-12, Men 13-14, and Women 10-14 Juniors at all of our events.

If you like crits, there are lots to choose from.

If you like road races, maybe you will like this one!  Here is the flyer:
