Registration Schedule Friday, 9.28.2012

at TriCounty Fairgrounds in Bishop

12:00 noon – 6:00pm

Registration and Check-In for riders who registered online.  How does this work, what do you need, and what happens?

1. Pre-Registered Riders with USAC Annual License

We will have a USAC Waiver printed out in advance, with your online info.       SHOW YOUR LICENSE, sign the waiver, and we give you two race numbers.  One on each side, wear both numbers on both days.

For all competitive race entrants; Men Cat5 and Women Cat4 are the only competitive racers who can race with a One Day License.  All others – including Masters Racers this year – MUST HAVE THE ANNUAL LICENSE.

2. Pre-Registered Riders without an USAC Annual License

Men Cat5 and Women Cat4 ONLY.  New this year, Men Cat5 and Women Cat4 (Annual or One Day License does not matter) may not race in Masters Races.

We will have a USAC Waiver printed out in advance, with your online info.    You will need to pay $10 for a One-Day License, since the Stage Race (like all USAC Races) is “members only.”  Sign the waiver, and we give you two race numbers.  One on each side, wear both numbers on both days.

3. Pre-Registered Riders in the Tourist/Non-Competitive Category

This is technically a different event from the Stage Race, although the course is identical.  You do not need a USAC License to ride in this event (notice that I am saying “ride” instead of “race” now.  Two. Different. Events.)

We will have a USAC Waiver printed out in advance, with your online info.   Sign the waiver, and we give you two race numbers.  One on each side, wear both numbers on both days.

4. “Day-of-Event” Registration

The Everest Challenge invites you to sign up on Friday 9.28.2012.

The only difference from the procedures above is that you will have to fill out the waiver yourself.  And bring money!

5. If you ordered EC merchandise online through BikeReg.com, now is the best time to pick it up.  We have a pretty large collection of EC shirts, EC jerseys, and EC socks with Billy, that infamous little goat, on them.  Billy is a pretty good climber, by the way.  He knows the way up the climbs, and I hear that he occasionally takes a pull.

6. Check out the Maps, Race Rules, Bib Number List, Start Times, Prize List, and Best GC Times by category that we have posted at Registration.

7. The Fabulous Free Pasta Feast returns!  6:00 – 7:00 or so.  Yes, it is absolutely, positively, totally included.  Some nice racer always emails me a few days before the race wanting to “buy a ticket” to the FFPF.  Sorry, but there is no such thing.  I really don’t want to do all that business with selling dinner tickets, checking names against the list, etc.  Easier, and a lot more fun, to just invite everybody and feed everybody who shows up.  I actually do invite everybody from the permit agencies and anybody I know in Bishop.  Invite your friends too.  There is plenty.

I have had a request for gluten-free pasta.  Is there any interest in this?  We will make it if there is enough interest.  As always, drop me an email about this or any other subject.  antigravitycycling@gmail.com

8. Mandatory Pre-Race Meeting.  7:00 – 7:25  Yes, 20 minutes shorter than last year.  People whose opinion I value insist that I talk too much.  We will definitely be done by 7:30 so you can get your beauty sleep.  We will talk about a few of the Race Rules, introduce those volunteers who are not already elsewhere working on the race, induct the largest Hall of Fame class so far, make last minute course announcements, and answer your questions on any and all topics.

9. Volunteer Meeting 7:30-7:50 Short and sweet.  We REALLY appreciate it when friends and family come to the EC and help out.  We need to make last minute adjustments as far as who is going to be where and when, who is doing what, and how equipment and supplies will get there too.  Phone lists and schedules will be updated and distributed.  “How To” guides will be distributed.  Yes, each job has a short written description to help new volunteers, and make the duties clear for experienced folks too.

If you or a friend is interested in volunteering, we still have a few positions available that need filling.  Drop me a note!    antigravitycycling@gmail.com
