Lone Pine, CA – one BIG BAD mountain each day!

August 10-11, 2013 64 miles, 13,100’ climbing

Stage 1 Check In 6:00AM – 7:30AM Saturday 8/10 at Lone Pine Park at the North end of Lone Pine, CA on US395. ONE Aid Station with water, HEED, E Caps, Clif bars, bananas, etc. Bottle handups at Aid Station and SAG on the course both days. Course has a rolling warmup lap along Tuttle Creek, Lubken Canyon, then climbs to the 10,000 foot high Horseshoe Meadows summit finish. The Race Director’s favorite climb!

Stage 2 Check In 6:30 – 7:30AM Sunday 8/11 at Lone Pine Park again. Course has two rolling warmup laps along Tuttle Creek, Lubken Canyon, and Horseshoe Meadows before making the epic climb to the Whitney Portal summit finish. ONE Aid Station, then food and drinks at the summit Finish.

Do this race self-supported! Not a USAC racer? Enter Cat 5 (Cat 4 for Women!) (one day license is $10/day) Held under USA Cycling event permit 2013-123. Permitted by Inyo County Dept. of Roads.

You must finish Stage 1 to start Stage 2. Helmets must be worn whenever riding! (USAC rules)

Stage 1 results posted at the Stage 2 Check-in, and posted online overnight. You must sign in both days.

From Los Angeles, Orange County:

I-5 North to CA 14 to US 395. This puts you just outside of Ridgecrest, and the Subway at the Shell Station in Pearsonville. Continue North another 60 miles to Lone Pine. Lone Pine Park, a.k.a. Russell Spainhower Park, is on the left at the North end of town adjacent to the Shell station.

 

From San Bernardino, San Diego:

I-15 North to US395 North. Continue North through Johannesburg and Pearsonville to Lone Pine. After you go through town, turn right on CA168. Lone Pine Park, a.k.a. Russell Spainhower Park, is on the left at the North end of town adjacent to the Shell station.

From San Francisco, Oakland:

I-580 East to I-205 East to I-5 East to CA120 East to CA108 East to US395 South through Bridgeport, Bishop, Big Pine and Independence to Lone Pine. Lone Pine Park, a.k.a. Russell Spainhower Park, is on the right at the North end of town adjacent to the Shell station.
